Are You Noticing That Your Childhood or Trauma Gets In The Way of Living Life?

You may be noticing an emotional chaos within yourself, where you past pain continue to return into your present, shaping your experiences in unforeseen ways. Even if others may not understand or see your experience/s as traumatic, experiencing trauma at any age changes you. It changes your brain. Even noticing what you didn't receive or what you should have received but didn't, can bring up feelings of grief that is covered by feelings of anger or frustration with those around you.

When you experience any type of trauma you are stuck with a sense of vulnerability, as your nervous system may remained sensitized to perceived threats, leading to feeling on edge and an overarching sense of unease. Whatever it is that you experienced, you're beginning to notice the impact of this in your life:

  • Changed self-perceptions, feelings of shame, guilt or worthlessness

  • Noticing that trust is just hard to build or maintain affecting your ability to form and sustain healthy relationships.

  • Everyday activities feels like a whirlwind of symptoms/behaviors.

  • Feeling restless, difficulties falling asleep or staying asleep

  • Ordinary situations may trigger responses wired for survival rather than joy.

EMDR and Trauma Therapy can help.

It may feel impossible now, but you can find healing and relief from the emotional pain and distress associated with your traumatic experiences.

You can gain a sense of safety, stability, and a renewed connection with yourself and others. You can learn tools to manage and overcome symptoms such as anxiety and flashbacks to rebuild a positive and fulfilling life. And I can help you get there.

EMDR and Trauma Therapy helps you do 4 things:

  1. Identify and develop effective coping strategies for managing intense emotions associated with traumatic memories.

  2. Identify specific traumatic memories that contribute to your current distress and collaboratively process these memories.

  3. Desensitize and reprocess the emotional triggers associated with the traumatic memories in order to allow you to approach the memories with reduced distress.

  4. Gain a sense of empowerment and mastery over your traumatic experiences so you can recognize your own strengths and resilience to rebuild a positive and fulfilling life.

I'll help you through this process, tailoring each step to your unique needs and circumstances. My approach to providing Trauma Therapy to adults in Individual Therapy comes from a place of compassion: believing that your current struggles and behaviors are not your fault, in fact I truly believe that your brain has learned and believes this is the safest way to navigate your current experiences considering everything you have been through. I can help you and all parts of you come together with compassion finding new ways to respond. As a trained EMDR therapist, we can utilize Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy to facilitate the healing process as we see fit. Others find healing with only Talk Therapy.

Ultimately, no matter how hard it gets, I will be there with you along the way.

You don't have to live life feeling stuck and hopeless.

I can help you get there.
